General Manager
Salt River Project
Richard Silverman was named General Manager of the Salt River Project on January 20, 1994. SRP is based in Tempe, Arizona, and is one of the nation's largest public water and electric utilities, with annual revenue of $2.0 billion.
Since joining SRP, Silverman has served in various legal and managerial capacities. Prior to his designation as General Manager, Silverman was Associate General Manager of Law & Administrative Services.
Silverman earned his baccalaureate degree in business from the University of Arizona. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona.
Silverman is a board member of the following community organizations: Arizona Community Foundation (past chair), Greater Phoenix Leadership (past chair), University of Arizona Foundation, St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center Board (past chair), and Translational Genomics Research Institute. He is past president of the board of the Heard Museum.
He is a member of the Governor's Arizona Centennial Commission, chair of the board of directors of the Electric Power Research Institute, a steering committee member of the Large Public Power Council (past chair), and a former board member of the American Public Power Association.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Silverman and his wife Susan have two daughters, Amy and Jennifer, and five grandchildren.
