Statement of the Large Public Power Council on Rulemaking Decision in FERC
Docket No. RM05-25
LPPC: The Commission Has Acted Wisely
Today, FERC adopted a landmark Order in the rulemaking proceeding
revisiting the Order 888 framework.
While the Order has not yet been issued, all signals indicate that the
Commission has acted wisely in directing important improvements to the
open access framework, while steering clear of needlessly disruptive
changes.
With this decision, Chairman Kelliher fulfills his promise of providing
the kind of thoughtful, steady leadership needed by the electric power
industry.
The LPPC's membership includes 25 of the nation's largest publicly owned,
not-for-profit energy systems. Members are located in 12 states and
provide power to some of the largest cities in the country including Los
Angeles, Seattle, Omaha, Phoenix, Memphis, Orlando and Austin.
