Public Power
Powering the Future of America’s Economy
Public Power
Community Owned, Community Driven
Public power utilities are essential to meeting America’s growing need for electricity. As demand rises from data centers, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and electrification, LPPC members are investing in the generation, transmission, and grid infrastructure needed to support economic growth while maintaining reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for their customer-owners.
The Benefits of Public Power
Public power is a mission-driven utility model that gives communities a direct voice in their energy future. Public power utilities are not-for-profit, locally governed, and accountable to the people and businesses they serve.
LPPC members are governed by elected or appointed boards, or directly accountable to state, city, or local governments. Across these models, decisions about rates, capital investment, reliability, power supply, and affordability programs are made close to the communities they serve.
Reliable, Affordable Power to our Communities
Communities served by public power benefit from local governance, strong reliability, affordable rates, and investment in cleaner, more sustainable power supplies. LPPC members operate at the scale needed to serve growing communities and regional economies, while staying focused on the customer owners who depend on them every day.
