LPPC Names Sarah Vilms Senior Director of Policy and External Affairs
Vilms brings more than 30 years of experience in energy policy, federal advocacy, and government relations, including more than 25 years working with Congress, the White House, and federal agencies on appropriations and funding, with additional experience in permitting, transmission, interconnection, and energy infrastructure.
Before joining LPPC, Vilms served as Vice President of Strategic Growth Initiatives at the Solar Energy Industries Association. She previously spent 25 years at Squire Patton Boggs where she was promoted to Principal in the firm’s public policy practice, advising trade associations, Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies, and major energy, industrial, transportation, and consumer-brand clients.
Earlier in her career, she worked on Capitol Hill in both Senate and House roles. Vilms earned her B.A. in Political Science from Brown University.
“We are excited to welcome Sarah to LPPC,” said LPPC Board Chair Jackie Flowers. “LPPC members are facing major decisions on reliability, affordability, infrastructure investment, and economic growth. Sarah understands federal policy, the needs of utilities, and the communities public power serves. She is an excellent fit to help ensure LPPC’s members and customers are represented effectively in Washington.”
“Sarah is a tremendous addition to LPPC,” said LPPC President Tom Falcone. “She brings deep energy policy expertise, seasoned advocacy judgment, and strong relationships across Congress and federal agencies. Her experience will strengthen LPPC’s work at a pivotal time for public power, as our members invest to meet rising demand, protect reliability and affordability, and support the future of the U.S. electric grid.”
