Bring FEMA Act to the Floor: Nearly Half of House Representative Signatures on Bipartisan Letter to Leadership Represent LPPC Member Districts
On February 2, 50 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC) and Rep. Donald G. Davis (D-NC), sent a bipartisan letter urging House leadership to bring H.R. 4669, the Fixing Emergency Management for Americans (FEMA) Act, to the floor for consideration so Congress can deliver real, bipartisan disaster recovery reform.
LPPC thanks Reps. Edwards and Davis and the members who signed the letter for supporting this important bill. Many of these members represent communities served by LPPC member utilities.
For public power, FEMA reform is about speed, resiliency, and affordability. The FEMA Act would help communities cut through red tape, recover, and rebuild faster. It includes reforms that provide much-needed clarity and predictability to FEMA's Public Assistance program, along with resiliency provisions that will reduce future storm damage and lower long-run costs.
