LPPC Endorses the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge
The Large Public Power Council welcomes the White House’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge, which reinforces the commitments made by hyperscalers in March to ensure existing customers are not burdened with the infrastructure costs required to support AI and data center growth. As community-owned, not-for-profit public power, LPPC member utilities exist solely to provide the most reliable power at the least cost to their customers. This core objective is reflected in every action and decision.
LPPC member utilities project to interconnect more than one-third of all new AI and data centers in the United States by 2030.
LPPC President Tom Falcone said, “LPPC applauds the Administration’s effort to bring all stakeholders to the table to protect affordability in the face of unprecedented demand from large loads. Customer protection mechanisms are being implemented across the country — at the utility, state, and regulator level - and are essential to protecting affordability and reliability for the more than 30 million Americans our members serve.”
The Ratepayer Protection Pledge was also endorsed by these LPPC members: Colorado Springs Utilities, ElectriCities of North Carolina, Grand River Dam Authority, Grant PUD, Lower Colorado River Authority, MEAG Power, Nebraska Public Power District, Omaha Public Power District, Salt River Project, Santee Cooper, and Snohomish County PUD.
